The research areas of this scholarship are: Scholarship is awarded within the Faculty of Architecture, Building and Planning’s Melbourne School of Design at the University of Melbourne. The focus of the research is on understanding the needs and expectations of industry and users in the development of low carbon buildings and precincts and the implementation and use of tools for informing the design and analysis of these buildings and precincts.
Who can apply to this scholarship?
· Applications are invited from candidates with a strong tertiary qualification in architecture, engineering, construction, sustainability assessment or a related field. Candidates with a working background in any of these areas are also encouraged to apply.
· Applicants for this scholarship must at least meet the Melbourne School of Design’s minimum entry requirements for graduate research degrees.
· The candidate should have a basic understanding of research techniques and experience working with quantitative data as evidenced by their prior work. The candidate will ideally have some prior experience in the development or use of quantitative sustainability assessment tools.
· The candidate should have excellent written and oral communication skills, an ability to manage research projects, and possess or show willingness to develop good working relationships with researchers and industry practitioners in the relevant field.
Benefits of the scholarship: The PhD scholarship offers an annual tax free stipend of $30,000. Fees for Australian / New Zealand citizens and Australian Permanent Residents will be covered by the Research Training scheme (RTS) and will be covered by the Faculty for an international candidate.
