RIBA President’s Awards for Research in Architecture 2012, UK

One thesis for the Master’s Degree Thesis category. This should be the output of a degree course which is not validated for RIBA Part 2 (i.e. it should be ineligible for the RIBA President’s Medals Student Awards). The Awards is intended to commend the work of an academic course (often an MA or MSc), not a professional qualification (often an MArch). Any number of PhD theses for the PhD Thesis category. Any number of completed projects in the University-located research category although these must each have been carried out by different researchers/research teams.

These annual awards will be given to completed research projects which are considered to make an outstanding contribution to architectural knowledge and understanding. Work in any area of architecture, including research by design, is eligible. The research must have been undertaken either by an RIBA Chartered Member OR within a university department in the UK or overseas which has a course validated by the RIBA {see Appendix} OR within an RIBA Chartered Practice.
