Who can apply to this scholarship? The successful candidate will be highly motivated, with a strong interest in health equity and social justice. S/he will be passionate about research, preferably with a good understanding of the financial, human resource and governance dimensions of health systems, especially in the context of universal health coverage. S/he must be able to demonstrate innovative thinking with respect to methods and approaches. Applicants will have a relevant doctoral degree (e.g. public health, sociology, political science, development studies) and possess knowledge of public health, health systems or health policy. All candidates are expected to have excellent writing and conceptual skills, and be able to work well in a multi
· disciplinary team. We welcome applications from international candidates but we particularly invite them from qualified South African as well as African scholars.
