Applications are invited for research fellowships in the field of Molecular Biology at Centre for Molecular Medicine Norway, NCMM. Applicants holding a PhD or MD PhD degree that appreciate working in an international and interactive environment are eligible to apply. Postdoctoral positions will be placed as postdoctoral research fellow with salary range depending on qualifications. Application should be submitted till 30th December 2013.. The Centre for Molecular Medicine Norway (NCMM, www.ncmm.uio.no) was established in 2008 as a national partnership institution with the European Molecular Biology Laboratory (www.embl.org) together with similar centres in Sweden, Finland and Denmark under the Nordic EMBL Partnership. NCMM is an international research institute with an overall objective of facilitating translation of discoveries in basic medical research into clinical practice. In more detail, NCMM focuses particularly on disease mechanisms where Norway has clear strengths and investigates disease mechanisms in cancer, immune disorders and cardiovascular diseases. The Staerk group at NCMM studies processes during normal and malignant hematopoiesis. The projects available focus on studying myelodysplastic syndromes (MDS), a clonal hematopoietic disorder in the age group above 50 that is characterized by impaired blood cell differentiation and a predisposition to transformation to acute myeloid leukemia (AML). Primary patient samples, induced pluripotent stem cells from MDS patients (MDS-iPSC) and MDS-iPSC derived disease-relevant cell types will be analyzed to identify underlying molecular causes of MDS pathogenesis.. Fellowships are available for pursuing postdoctoral research program. The research areas of this scholarship are:
