Postdoctoral Research Fellowship in Chemistry at University of Oslo, 2012 Norway

The research is challenging and demands that the research group has expertise in many fields: Radiochemistry, aqueous-phase complexation chemistry, liquid-liquid extraction chemistry, liquid scintillation counting, gamma spectroscopy, computer systems for instrument control and data acquisition, nuclear physics, and more. The position therefore provides an excellent opportunity to work in a truly cross-disciplinary research field at the very edge of current technology and knowledge – it is an exploration voyage into the unknown of elements which have never or barely been investigated. Our experiments are performed at large, international laboratories like the GSI Helmholtzzentrum für Schwerionenforschung in Germany and the RIKEN accelerator facility in Japan.

The candidate must have a PhD or other corresponding education equivalent to a Norwegian doctoral degree. The successful candidate must be a team-player and is expected to work closely with the rest of the research group. The selected candidate should be motivated, talented, and curiosity driven individual with a strong background in experimental science, preferentially nuclear science, and laboratory work. She or he must also fully master a Scandinavian language or English, and should have writing skills good enough to write journal papers in English. The candidate is expected to participate in supervision of PhD and Masters-degree students, thus previous teaching and/or supervision experience is an advantage.

Scholarship Deadline: 17 February, 2012
