Postdoctoral Fellowship in Structural Biology Group at ESRF, France

You will participate in ongoing in-house research programmes, the running of the Beamlines and providing support to external users as local contact. In particular, you will join in the effort of the group to study the complex of S-layer proteins from D. radiodurans that has been purified and structural studies are underway. We are seeking a highly motivated individual to continue the structural studies of this membrane protein complex. This project will be carried out in the state-of-the-art Carl-Ivar Brändén Building (Partnership for Structural Biology, with access to some of the world’s most advanced macromolecular crystallography beamlines. You will also be encouraged to use the research project to fully exploit the unique beamline capabilities of the Structural Biology Group Beamlines.

Candidates should hold a PhD in Protein Crystallography, Molecular Biology or Biochemistry with a strong background in structural biology. Additional skills in molecular biology, recombinant protein expression and purification and biochemical characterization of membrane proteins are highly desirable. In addition, experience with membrane protein purification and/or the crystallization of large complexes would be a distinct advantage. The successful applicant should be comfortable working in a multinational team and capable of clear communication.
