The Department of Computer Science, University of Copenhagen, Denmark, seeks applications for a PhD scholarship within algorithms. This is part of a general expansion in algorithms at the department, which recently hired Professor Mikkel Thorup. A new assistant professor in algorithms is also being recruited. Other research areas in the department include programming language technology, combinatorial optimization, high-performance computing, data mining and machine learning. The candidate must have a background within algorithms as demonstrated by graduate level courses and/or project and thesis work within this research field. Publications at algorithms conferences such as STOC, FOCS, and SODA would be a plus. The PhD project will be carried out at Department of Computer Science, University of Copenhagen. The salary and appointment terms are according to the current agreement for PhD students of 1 April 2011 according to which the minimum monthly incl. allowance currently amounts to DKK 27,225/EUR 3,650.
The appointment is for a period of 3 years in which case you have completed a MSc degree or 4 years in which case you have completed a BSc degree plus the equivalent of one year of studies on the MSc programme.
