The Patience Thoms Indigenous Australian (Honours/Postgraduate) Scholarships are designed to assist Indigenous students moving onto Honours and Post-Graduate studies at Griffith University. The scholarship aims to give both material and financial support for Indigenous students who require such support to complete further university studies. There are 16 scholarships available, each to the value of up to $4000 ($2000 for part-time) in material support (i.e. computer, and textbooks) and/or up to $1000 ($500 for part-time students) of financial support to be paid over two instalments. This is to a total value of $4000 for a year for full-time students ($2000 for part-time students). Masters students who take more than one year to complete their program will be able to re-apply for further support.
To be eligible for the Patience Thoms Indigenous Australian (Honours/Postgraduate) Scholarship the applicant must: -have met the requirements for admission to Honours level (embedded or end-on) program or Graduate Certificate, Graduate Diploma or Masters programs (does not include Graduate Entry) -be Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander -Demonstrated Academic Merit -Show how the scholarship will be used to further their studies. -Equity issues will be taken into account.
