NSF Graduate Research Fellowship Program (GRFP) in USA, 2015

Applications are invited for NSF Graduate Research Fellowship Program (GRFP) available for outstanding graduate students who are pursuing research-based master’s and doctoral degrees in science and engineering. Each Fellowship consists of three years of support during a five-year fellowship period. NSF provides a stipend of $32,000 to the Fellow and a cost-of-education allowance of $12,000 to the graduate degree-granting institution for each Fellow utilizing the fellowship support in a fellowship year.. The Graduate Research Fellowship Program (GRFP) awards Fellowships for graduate study leading to research-based master’s and doctoral degrees in science and engineering. The Fields of Study listed in the Appendix are used to place applications in the most appropriate review panel and to track the disciplinary progress of Fellows and their career outcomes. Applicants may select “other” if their Field of Study is not represented in the list. NSF Graduate Research Fellowships are awarded to individuals in the early stages of their graduate study. All applicants are expected to have adequate preparation to begin graduate-level study and research by summer or fall of 2015.. Benefits of the scholarship:  Anticipated funding amount is $333,440,000. For each fellow, the institution receives up to a $44,000 award per. Fellow utilizing the fellowship support in a fellowship year. The Graduate Research Fellowship stipend is currently $32,000 for a 12-month tenure period, prorated in whole month increments of$2,666. The cost-of-education allowance to the institution is currently $12,000 per year of fellowship support. Pending the availability of funds in 2015, it is anticipated that the stipend will increase to $34,000, as indicated in NSF’s FY2015 Budget Request to Congress.

Duration:  All Fellowship funding will be for a maximum of three years of financial support (in 12-month allocations, starting in summer or fall) usable over a five-year fellowship period.
Number of scholarships: The NSF expects to award 2,000 Graduate Research Fellowships under this program solicitation pending availability of funds. Applicants are limited to one application in this competition.
