Montana PTA awards offer financial assistance to Montana residents who are high school seniors or college students that need additional help in obtaining a bachelor’s degree toward the goal of becoming an elementary or secondary school teacher in the Montana public school system. The scholarship may be used at any Montana college or university that trains teachers. The scholarship is a non-renewable $1,000 merit award; however, winners may re-apply the next year.One award of $1,000 will be made to a high school senior and one award of $1,000 will be made to a Montana college or university student when funds allow.The scholarship awards will be paid directly to the scholarship recipient’s college or university subject to the approval of the Scholarship Committee in July of 2012. The recipients must furnish their social security number to the Montana PTA to facilitate payment of the awards.
-A Montana resident graduating from a Montana public high school, attending a Montana public college or university that trains teachers. -Pursuing a career as a primary or secondary teacher attending a Montana public college or university. -Must have an average of 2.5 (on a scale of 4.0) or better -Either the applicant or guardian must be a current member of a local PTA unit or the Treasure STATE PTA associated with Montana PTA.
