Who can apply to this scholarship?
· Eligibility requirements apply at the time of application. Applicants must meet all of the following requirements and will be considered without regard to race, color, religion, sex, age, national origin and/or disability. •Must be a U.S. citizen or permanent resident. Proof of citizenship or residency must be shown upon award notification. •Must be a doctoral candidate who has completed all PhD requirements with the exception of the dissertation or a scholar who obtained his/her PhD within the last ten years (September 2003 or after). •Must be engaged in the study of and research in the humanities or related social sciences. •Must seek to conduct research in one or more countries in the Mediterranean region, one of which must host a participating American overseas research center (ORC).
Benefits of the scholarship: Award amounts will be calculated at $3,000 plus $2,700 per month. A supplementary stipend of $700 per month will be granted for travel in the following countries: Algeria, Cyprus, France, Greece, Israel, Italy, Jordan, Montenegro, Spain, and Turkey. Fellowship awards will not exceed $33,600. No dependent allowance is available.
