-The ideal candidate has a university degree in bioinformatics, computer science, physics, or a related field. Candidates with a PhD and publications are welcome to apply. -Familiarity with the management and analysis of large- scale genomics datasets will be considered an advantage. -In particular experience with sequencing data (next generation or Sanger -based sequence assembly and -mapping) or other functional genomics data (e.g. microarray data) is a plus. Basic skills with the LINUX/UNIX operating system are essential. -Furthermore, a strong background in at least one scripting or programming language (Perl, Python, Java) is mandatory. -Experience in R/Bioconductor and/or web programming will be considered an advantage. -The ability to work independently is a prerequisite, as is the ability to effectively interact with the research and technical staff of the center and of external research groups in a team-oriented manner. -Advanced knowledge of English is essential, as this is the working language of the center. -Knowledge of German is helpful.
