Erasmus Mundus AgTraIn PhD Fellowships for International Students, 2015

Applications are invited for AgTraIn PhD fellowships available to doctoral candidates from all countries for research on agricultural transformation within the scientific fields of the programme. Every year approximately 8-10 fellowships will be available for a period of three years. There are two types of fellowships: Category A and Category B. Eligible candidates should hold a M.Sc. degree in a relevant field and have relevant professional experience within his/her area of expertise. The deadline for application is 1 November, 2014.. The main objective of the AgTraIn programme is to develop an elite European school within the topic of successful development and transformation of farming systems in the developing world. Thematically, the AgTraIn programme deals with agricultural production chains, the natural resource base and the involved communities. The scope of AgTraIn will range from the technical aspects of agricultural production, over post-harvest management, processing and value-addition, to market access and commercialisation. A key feature of the programme is the involvement of key stakeholders in identifying research questions and participating in project formulation. The emphasis is on applied research.. Fellowships are available to pursue PhD Programme at two of the six European university partners in AGTRAIN (University of Copenhagen, Denmark, University of Catania, Italy, University of Cork, Ireland, Polytechnic University of Madrid, Spain, Monpellier SupAgro, France, and Wageningen University, The Netherlands).

Benefits of the scholarship: Category A and B fellowships are identical except that the first are eligible to receive 7500 EUR to cover travel and installation costs (received in two installments), whereas Category B fellowships include 3000 EUR to cover travel and installation costs when the fellowship holder visits an associate partner outside Europe. Both fellowships also include operational funds (participation costs,insurance coverage, etc.) of 21600. Fellows will get salary of 100800.
