In order to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the Department of Education at the University of York, the Department invites Home/EU students to apply for an anniversary PhD studentship. This will comprise a stipend of £13,500 per year, which will be payable for three years, subject to good academic progress, together with a waiver of the tuition fees. The successful applicant will be required to do some teaching in the Department; this will involve about 100 hours of teaching and 100 hours of preparation and marking. This equates to around 6 or 7 hours per week, or about one day a week, during term time. There will also be opportunities to become involved in staff-led research projects, depending on the interests of the successful applicant.
To be eligible for this studentship you must be a home/EU student and have applied and been offered a place on our three-year full-time PhD programme starting October 2012 before this deadline. Interviews for the award will be held in early May 2012 and the recipient of the offer of the studentship will be informed of this by 31st May 2012.
