Apila International Prize, Children's Story Illustration



Children's albums/books are increasingly resourceful and exhilarating, there are those who work hard to bring into their hands stories and illustrations full of creativity and love.

On this occasion, Apila invites you: illustrator, to participate in this contest that will give you the opportunity to publish your first children's story.

The award, which has been held since 2013, is promoted by the Editorial Apila Ediciones in conjunction with the School of Art of Zaragoza in Spain and the City Council of that same town.

Among the most notable publications is the Rosa Monster of Olga de Ríos, which to date already has thirteen (13) editions.

How to participate?

The application will be done online as follows:

  • The requirements will be sent to the e-mail address: apilaediciones@gmail.com
  • The subject of the mail shall stipulate: "FIRSTNAME_IMPRESION".
  • A maximum ten (10) mega file will be attached, with the book finished or the book's Storyboard with a minimum of five (5) pages.
  • In addition, a Word document indicating: participant name, address, nationality, portfolio, among others.
  • Other.

And besides:

  • The works will be presented in Spanish.
  • They may be originalors or adaptations of stories, provided that they are free of copyright.

A winner will commit to completion of illustration work by 01 September 2020.

Jury coach.

The organizers of the contest will appoint a jury that will be composed of:

  • A member of Apila Ediciones.
  • A professor of the specialty of Artistic Drawing and Color.
  • A professor in the Department of Cultural Activities.
  • Among others.

Scholarship benefits

The Apila Ediciones Award will consist of:

  • The signing of a professional contract with Apila Ediciones for the publication of the selected work.
    • The payment of 10% of the value of a spin will be set at 4,000 euros. In addition, the work will be disseminated and distributed internationally.

The Prize will be indivisible and the judgment will be made in March 2020.

These are the requirements to apply for

The authors may be of any nationality, and there are no other limitations for gender, profession or other.

Interested persons shall comply with the following requirements:

  • Do not have any children's albums released (with ISBN) until the end of the admission period.
  • Those who have one (1) or more albums released with ISBN as long as they have not been published by any publisher. They will be admitted as long as they are self-edited.
