2015 Kresge Artist Fellowships in Literary Arts and Visual Arts, USA

Applications are invited for Kresge Artist Fellowships available for emerging and established artists whose commitment to artistic achievement in contemporary or traditional forms, is evident in the quality of their work. Fellowships are awarded to Detroit Literary and Visual artists who are current legal residents of the metropolitan Detroit tri-county area (Macomb, Oakland or Wayne counties) in Michigan. The program will provide support for nine Literary Arts Fellows and nine Visual Arts Fellows. Kresge Artist Fellowships consist of a $25,000 award and professional practice opportunities for emerging and established metropolitan Detroit for 12 months. The application deadline is January 22, 2015.. Emerging and established metropolitan Detroit Literary and Visual artists are invited to apply for a $25,000 Kresge Artist Fellowship. Fellowships are funded by The Kresge Foundation and administered by the Kresge Arts in Detroit office at the College for Creative Studies, with professional practice opportunities for the selected fellows provided by Creative Many Michigan. In 2015, the program will provide support for nine Literary Arts Fellows and nine Visual Arts Fellows living and working in metropolitan Detroit (Wayne, Oakland and Macomb counties). Kresge Artist Fellowships are given to artists whose commitment to artistic achievement, in contemporary or traditional forms, is evident in the quality of their work.. This is a one year fellowship program for emerging and established artists and is intended to fund an artist’s creative vision and voice.
The research areas of this scholarship are: The Kresge Artist Fellowships are given each year to artists in the dance/music, film/theater, literary and visual arts. In 2015, nine fellowships will be awarded in the literary arts and nine fellowships will be awarded in the visual arts. Literary:
Who can apply to this scholarship? Fellowship applications are accepted by artists who:
· Are current legal residents of the metropolitan Detroit tri
· county area (Macomb, Oakland or Wayne counties) in Michigan, have resided in the area for the past two years and are expected to retain residence in one of the three counties during the fellowship period
· Work in one or more of the disciplines reviewed each year
· Are at least 18 years old
Benefits of the scholarship: Kresge Artist Fellowships consist of a $25,000 award and professional practice opportunities for emerging and established metropolitan Detroit artists. The purpose of the fellowship is to enable the artist to devote time and resources to whatever is necessary to deepen his or her art form, to experiment and to advance his or her artistic career. Fellowship funding may cover any aspect of the artist’s life, such as, but not limited to, informal study, exploration of new artistic directions, overhead costs, travel as it directly relates to the artistic career, living and other expenses.
