The project aims to investigate creep in wood materials and complex wooden structures. The goal is to develop and validate methods for support structures, for applications in historically valuable wooden buildings, ships and bridges. The research tasks include experimental characterization of creep properties, identification of mechanical properties and numerical modelling of dimensional stability. The Division of Applied Mechanics offers a cross-disciplinary research environment with senior researchers within e.g. computational mechanics, experimental micromechanics and composite materials.
Suitable candidates should have a M.Sc. in engineering sciences, such as Engineering Physics, Mechanical Engineering or Materials Science. The candidate should have a background in solid mechanics and experience in mechanical testing and finite-element modelling is considered valuable
