In the subject Engineering Science with specialization in Solid State Physics Starting date as soon as possible. The Magnetism group within Division of Solid State Physics deals with experimental studies of magnetic materials. The group consists of professors, guest scientists, post docs and PhD students, in total some ten active researchers. Magnetism and magnetic materials are used in applications of great importance for societal functions as well as our daily life. Worldwide, intense fundamental and applied research within this field has been carried out in Academia and Industry since more than a century. In spite of or maybe rather because of this, there is a continued rapid development within the research field and new functional materials are predicted, fabricated, characterised and exploited both in new and already established applications.
The successful candidate should have a Master of Science in Physics, Engineering Physics, Material Science, Material Chemistry or equivalent. Good communication skills in oral and written English are required. Skills in the Swedish language (oral and written) are of merit. The PhD position is for four years, extendable to a maximum of five years including departmental duties at a level of at most 20% (typically teaching)
