One PhD student position studying ecotoxicology is available at Population and Conservation Biology, Department of Ecology and Genetics, Evolutionary Biology Centre, Uppsala University. The aim is to examine the biological effects of pesticides that occur most frequently in levels above the guideline values for Swedish surface water. This will be done with traditionally LC50 test, new developed test performed in an ecological context and a strong focus on the combined (“cocktail”) effects of the pesticides. The study system consists of aquatic insects in the agricultural landscape and effects of the pesticides in the aquatic larval stage as well as in the adult stage will be studied.
We are seeking highly motivated, independent students with strong interests in ecology: ecotoxicology. The position requires a MSc degree (or equivalent) in ecology/evolution or a related field, fluency in English, and the ability to conduct independent field work. Previous experience with field ecotoxicology and statistical skills are a plus.
